PRESS RELEASE In the spirit of The Great Escape, John Maguire is taking his family and music on tour to the Southern Hemisphere for the next year, starting in New Zealand in April. John will be recording the entire expedition, which will include travelling in New Zealand and Australia, gigs down under, and the story of his family as they embark on the journey together. The tour begins with a launch gig in Whelan’s, Wexford St, Dublin on 11 April. The tour was featured on RTE’s Tubridy Show on Radio 1 (February 2010), and Kieran Kelly on the Sin E show on Dublin City FM (January 2010). John has been touring his new album, Emerging, around Ireland over the past year, including Whelan’s, Wexford St, Dublin; Crane Lane Theatre, Cork; McHugh’s, Drogheda; the Flat Lakes Festival, Clones, Co. Monaghan, and MacCarthy’s, Dingle. He has also shared stage with members of The Horslips, Henry McCullough of Paul McCartney and Wings fame, Peter Mulvey (USA), and played support for Baby Gramps (USA), Eleanor Shanley, Paul Kelly and Frankie Lane.
